Angel I. Salinas is a Chicano screenwriter and director from the city of Bell in Southeast Los Angeles. Salinas graduated from the California State University of Northridge with a BA in Media Theory and Criticism.

Salinas has been supported by institutes like William Morris Endeavor, Wise Entertainment, Rideback, and MACRO. In 2017 Salinas was accepted into the Mitú / Delta Aeromexico Accelerator Program, where he wrote and directed a short film titled, “American Weekend,” and was published on digital media company Mitú’s Facebook page. Salinas also directs music videos, often working with bands from his hometown of SELA like “The Altons.” In 2020 Angel was a recipient of the NALIP Emerging Content Creators Scholarship.

Salinas’ work often deals with how we navigate our relationships with the people in our lives-- all told through his unique Chicano perspective. In 2020 Salinas, along with fellow Latinx filmmakers Chris Carmona, Jazmin Aguilar, and Sarah Neal Avilés, formed a film collective called Nuevo Hollywood for the purposes of discussing issues within the film industry regarding Latinx films and filmmakers, as well as create a space that supports and uplifts new and progressive ideas for the future of film and television.

Salinas currently hosts The Us Podcast and is busy writing your next favorite show with writing partner Sarah Neal Avilés. They recently were finalists in the 2021 Ojalá Ignition Lab in partnership with Universal Content Productions. They were previously repped by Color Creative.
